Resources for Change
Welcome to our curated library of social change resources!
While there is no legal definition of a social enterprise, the most widely adopted definition of social enterprise in Australia comes from the Finding Australia’s Social Enterprises (FASES) Report 2016:
Social enterprises are businesses that trade to intentionally tackle social problems, improve communities, provide access to employment and training, or help the environment.
Social enterprises are thus driven by ‘Purpose’ and are:
Led by an economic, social, cultural or environmental mission consistent with a public or community benefit,
Trade to fulfil their purpose,
Derive a substantial portion of their income from trade, and
Reinvest the majority of their profit/surplus in the fulfilment of their purpose.
